System Overview

High Velocity Water Spray (HVWS) System

A High Velocity Water Spray (HVWS) system discharges water at high velocity through projector-type nozzles — emulsifying the surface of burning oil, cooling the equipment, and suppressing the fire. HVWS is the mandated standard for protection of oil-filled transformers, oil circuit breakers, turbines, cable tunnels, and tank bunds in petroleum, power, and industrial facilities across India.

Common Questions About HVWS System

Straight answers to the questions we hear most from facility owners and consultants.

HVWS (High Velocity Water Spray) discharges water at high velocity through projector nozzles to suppress, cool, and emulsify fires on oil-filled equipment like transformers, turbines, cable tunnels, and tank bunds. It is mandatory under OISD 116/117 for petroleum installations and is designed to IS 15105 and NFPA 15 standards.
